A grassroots group out of Toledo is urging action about waste from fracking and recently made its plea in a letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
According to Times Reporter, the Ohio division of the EPA enforces The Clean Water Act, which is designed to prevent and manage water pollution. However, the FreshWater Accountability Project, the group that opposes fracking, claims that the Ohio EPA is not doing its job as fracking waste infiltrates Ohio water.
The FreshWater Accountability Project has requested the U.S. EPA to take control of handling The Clean Water Act’s provisions. Another mission of the FreshWater Accountability Project is to reverse the temporary permits for storage and waste facilities for oil and gas companies.
