23 shale drilling permits issued in Ohio, Pa., W. Va. for week ended Jan. 8

Twenty-three new permits were issued to drill shale wells in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia from Jan. 2 to Jan. 8, according to Marcellus Drilling News.

Pennsylvania issued 14 new permits during the time period. Apex Energy received six permits to drill on a single well pad in Westmoreland County and Coterra Energy received five permits to drill on a single well pad in Susquehanna County.

Ohio issued 8 new permits and West Virginia issued one new drilling permit from Jan. 2 to Jan. 8.

During the period of Dec. 19 to Jan. 1, 38 new permits were issued to drill shale wells in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
