Twenty-eight permits to drill new shale wells were issued in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia during the week ended Oct. 24, according to Marcellus Drilling News.
Pennsylvania issued 21 permits with most of those split between two well pads, one in Butler County drilled by PennEnergy Resources and the other in Tioga County drilled by Repsol.
Ohio issued six new permits with Encino Energy receiving three, Utica Resource Operating receiving two and Ascent Resources receiving one.
For the second consecutive week, West Virginia issued only one new drilling permit.
