Twenty-nine new permits were issued to drill shale wells in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia from Feb. 27 to March 5, according to Marcellus Drilling News.
Ohio issued 20 new drilling permits during the time period. Hilcorp Energy received eight permits for drilling in Columbiana County, Ohio. Encino Energy received four drilling permits, split between Carroll County and Columbiana County in Ohio. EOG Resources received four permits in Carroll County, Ohio.
Pennsylvania issued seven new permits from Feb. 27 to March 5. West Virginia issued two new permits.
A week prior, from Feb. 20 to Feb. 26, 29 new permits were issued to drill shale wells in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
