Forty new permits were issued to drill shale wells in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia from Feb. 6 to Feb. 12, according to Marcellus Drilling News.
Pennsylvania issued 25 new drilling permits during the time period. Seneca Resources received six of those drilling permits for Tioga County, Pa. and Coterra Energy received five permits for drilling in Susquehanna County, Pa.
Ohio issued 11 new permits and West Virginia issued 4 new permits from Feb. 6 to Feb. 12. Encino Energy and Ascent Resources both received four new permits to drill in Ohio.
A week prior, from Jan. 30 to Feb. 5, 26 new permits were issued to drill shale wells in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
