Forty-five new permits were issued to drill shale wells in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia during the week ended Aug. 21, according to Marcellus Drilling News.
Pennsylvania issued 30 new permits from Aug. 15-21. Coterie Energy received twelve permits to drill in Susquehanna County. EQT received six permits on a single pad in Greene County. Chesapeake Energy also received six permits, split between well pads in Bradford County and Lycoming County.
West Virginia issued 10 new drilling permits. HG Energy II Appalachia, LLC received half of those to drill in Lewis County. Three of the remaining permits were issued for drilling activity in Wetzel County and the final two for drilling in Marshall County.
Ohio issued five new drilling permits.
