47 shale drilling permits issued in Ohio, Pa., W. Va. from Feb. 6-12

Forty-seven new shale drilling permits were issued in Ohio Pennsylvania and West Virginia collectively, during the week ended from Feb. 6 to Feb. 12, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.

Pennsylvania issued 26 new shale well permits. Eight were issued in Lycoming County, five were issued in Susquehanna County, four were issued in Tioga County, three were issued in Allegheny County, two each were issued in Bradford and Westmoreland counties and one each were issued in Armstrong and Washington counties.

Ohio issued 18 Utica/Point Pleasant Shale drilling permits. Four permits each were issued in Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana and Guernsey Counties. The remaining were issued in Harrison County.

West Virginia issued three new permits from Feb. 6 to Feb. 12.
