A May 2014 report from the U.S. Department of Energy could have greatly impacted the future of LNG exports if it weren’t for the passage of an amendment to House Energy and Water Appropriations Act. Pittsburgh Business Times reports that U.S. Rep Keith Rothfus (R-Sewickley) successfully issued an amendment to the report, preventing the DOE to take that report into account. The amendment was added May 1.
The report consists of information regarding the amount of greenhouse gases that would be emitted by producing LNG in the U.S. and if importers would produce it in their own countries.
