Gulfport Energy Corp. and Ascent Resources are entertaining the possibility of a merger amid rebounding commodity prices, according to Bloomberg.
The companies have discussed a transaction that would value the combined venture at $8 billion, said one of Bloomberg’s sources who asked not to be named.
The management team of Ascent Resources would run the new company under one structure, according to the source. However, no deal is imminent and the companies may choose not the proceed with the merger.
