Bridger Photonics recently announced it will deploy its airborne methane detecting laser technology in the Marcellus Shale with Repsol, according to PR Newswire.

Gas Mapping LiDAR was developed to simplify the detection, measurement and visualization of methane emissions in oil and natural gas infrastructure, and eventually use this data to reduce emissions. The technology can efficiently cover large areas and detect over 90% of emissions, according to PR Newswire.

After the laser scans are complete, Bridger provides digital maps and other data to identify and prioritize repairs where there are hidden methane leaks, allowing companies to baseline and track their total emissions over time to achieve their emissions reduction targets.
