Chesapeake Energy recently announced plans to partner with MiQ and Equitable Origin to seek responsibly sourced certification for its Lower 48 natural gas production, according to Natural Gas Intelligence.

The company said it would be “the first company to independently certify and continuously monitor its natural gas production across two major shale gas basins” via the MiQ methane standard and the EO100 Standard for Responsible Energy Development.

Natural gas production across Chesapeake’s Gulf Coast assets, targeting the Haynesville and Bossier Shale formations, will be certified first under the partnership. Then, the company’s Appalachian Basin natural gas production, with a focus on the Marcellus Shale, will be certified.
