In September, natural gas and coal were about even in energy production, but now, coal has fallen behind.
Bloomberg’s chart shows the percentage of gas, coal, nuclear and renewable energy production over the past five months and at the latest count, nuclear has gained an edge on coal.
Inexpensive natural gas is being used over nuclear energy by some power generators to save money. Nuclear energy accounts for about 20 percent of U.S. energy generation.
