Despite being reissued a drilling permit by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for a site in Trumbull County, Halcon Resources says it has no plans to drill in the Northern Utica Shale in the near future, The Business Journal reports.
The reissued permit was for a site in Warren Township. According to the newspaper, Halcon stated last year that drilling would be suspended in Trumbull County because of weak production. Currently, the company has eight producing wells in the county.
The ODNR Division of Oil & Gas Resources weekly activity report for the Utica/Point Pleasant Shale lists the Warren Township permit status as “Drilling,” even though Halcon is not drilling there now.
