Dominion Energy expects to start exporting liquefied natural gas from its Cover Point terminal in Maryland, according to LNG World News. Cove Point is only the second U.S. facility to produce LNG from shale gas.

Feed gas was introduced to the Cove Point liquefaction facility in December. According to Dominion, the $4 billion facility is in the final stages of commissioning.

Once it’s finished, the facility will use natural gas from the Marcellus and Utica shale plays to produce LNG for ST Cove Point, a joint venture of Japan’s Sumitomo Corp. and Tokyo Gas and India’s Gail Limited, under 20-year contracts.
