Natural gas production is expected to rise more than 700 MMcf/d month-over-month in May due to increased output from the Haynesville Shale and from the Appalachian and Permian basins, according to the Energy Information Administration.
The EIA expects total natural gas output from the seven key U.S. onshore producing regions to climb 721 MMcf/d from April to May, reaching slightly under 91 Bcf/d, according to its latest Drilling Productivity Report.
The Haynesville (up 245 MMcf/d), Appalachia (up 197 MMcf/d) and the Permian (up 154 MMcf/d) will all contribute the largest output increases for the period. The other plays seeing increases include the Bakken (up 27 MMcf/d), the Eagle Ford (up 110 MMcf/d) and the Niobrara (up 3 MMcf/d).
