EIA: Widespread production declines across major shale basins in US

The latest data from the Energy Information Administration’s Drilling Productivity Report shows widespread production declines across every major shale basin in the United States, according to Yahoo Finance.

Declines in oil production between April and May include losses of 76,000 bpd in the Permian, 35,000 bpd in the Eagle Ford, 28,000 bpd in the Bakken, 21,000 bpd in the Anadarko and 20,000 bpd in the Niobrara.

Declines in natural gas production include losses of 326 million cubic feet per day in May in the Appalachian basin, which includes the Marcellus and Utica shale plays, and 216 mcf/d in May in the Anadarko basin in Oklahoma — 3 percent decline in production.
