Many oil and gas companies operating in the Marcellus Shale region are looking for skilled workers for the stages beyond drilling wells, according to The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Midstream infrastructure, or the phase of oil and gas wells where pipelines are built and gas and oil are transported, requires the expertise of engineers and construction workers. Although these skilled workers are often local, out-of-state workers are sometimes hired if they have more experience in the field.
Some colleges have oil and gas industry programs that have prepared their graduates for work in the oil and gas field according to Tracy Brundage, Penn College’s vice president for workforce development.
