The Center for Coalfield Justice and the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Sierra Club have questioned the locations that Range Resources chooses for its wells. According to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette PowerSource, the organizations think that Range Resources targets poorer communities instead of wealthier ones.
Both groups have asked the state Department of Environmental Protection to review Range Resources’ shale gas development plans, both in the past and the future. The organizations believe that Range chooses poorer locations because in wealthier locations, residents would have the financial resources to challenge shale development.
