Environmental groups, Shell agree on cracker air quality

Shell Chemical Appalachia has reached an agreement with the Clean Air Council and the Environmental Integrity Project on air quality monitoring in and around the company’s ethane cracker plant in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times.
Shell has agreed to build a fenceline air monitoring program to complement another system at its plant site in Potter Township, as well as conduct more tests for flares from the facility, according to a news release from the Clean Air Council and the Environmental Integrity Project.
The monitors will measure for emissions, and alert Shell if it registers at a specified level.
