Gov. Kasich’s Office Drafted Marketing Plans for Fracking in State Parks

Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s office was involved in drafting a marketing plan in 2012 that supported fracking in state parks, according to a document released Monday, and the Columbus Dispatch.
The Dispatch reported that the documents also contained a “Nixon-style enemies list.”
The document, released by ProgressOhio and the Sierra Club, was for internal discussion, according to Ohio Department of Natural Resources spokesman Mark Bruce.
Kasich spokesman Rob Nichols told the Columbus Dispatch that the governor’s office had never seen the plan.

“The 13-page state document included detailed plans for various agencies in the Kasich administration to “marginalize” drilling opponents by teaming up with “allied” companies including Halliburton, business groups and media outlets.” –Akron Beacon Journal
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is Ohio’s regulatory agency in charge of overseeing oil and gas development, yet the agency lists possible allies in a potential fight to drill in state parks.
ODNR spokeswoman Bethany McCorkle said it would be responsible for any organization to plan in advance, especially if opposition in expected.
