The Guernsey Power Station will not break ground until April due to an objection filed by American Electric Power to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, according to The Daily Jeff.
The AEP’s objection to the project arose over concern for a switching station being built on potentially unstable grounds due to nearby abandoned mines and who would bear the cost of grouting those mines.
Local officials had anticipated that the FERC would make a decision on Feb. 19, but it has not decided. As a result, the groundbreaking has been pushed back.
