Although it curtailed production in hopes natural gas prices will rise later this year, Gulfport Energy continues drilling Utica Shale wells in an effort to position its production to peak later this year, according to the Canton Repository.
The company plans to complete seven more Utica wells during the second half of this year. It will run one drilling rig in the Utica through the third quarter.
Despite cutbacks, Gulfport still expects annual production to fall between 1 billion and 1.075 billion cubic feet equivalent per day.
