A merger between Halliburton Co. and Baker Hughes Inc. has been called off, Reuters reports.
Both U.S. and foreign antitrust regulators opposed the merger. A combination of regulatory approvals and industry conditions led to the decision to end the deal, according to the source.
In November 2014, Halliburton acquired Baker Hughes for $34.6 billion. Halliburton will pay Baker Hughes a “breakup fee” for calling off the merger.
