The Utica Shale isn’t as large as some previously thought, according to the Youngstown Vindicator. Though it sounds disappointing, the news isn’t bad for the Mahoning Valley. Why? Because the Mahoning Valley is in the middle of it all.
Read it:
“In the long-term, the condensing of the shale area should help the Mahoning Valley economically because oil-field services companies will be able to locate more centrally and won’t be as spread out, said Eric Planey, vice president for international business attraction at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber.”
The majority of the shale development is centered in Columbiana, Carroll and Harrison counties.
