In Nov. 2009, 44 landowners in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, sued Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. for allegedly contaminating their water wells. 34 of those plaintiffs settled. The final plaintiffs were just awarded a combined $4.24 million.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette PowerSource reports that one family of five was awarded $2.75 million and a family of three was awarded $1.49 million.

According to the source, Cabot maintains that the contamination was not a result of its operations.
