The largest gas-fired power plant in Pennsylvania is now online, according to Kallanish Energy.

Last week, Chicago-based Invenergy began operations at its $1.25 billion Lackawanna Energy Center, a 1,485-megawatt, natural gas-fired power plant near Scranton, Pennsylvania. The plant is the company’s biggest project ever.

The combined-cycle electric generation facility has the capacity to power more than 1 million American homes, the Invenergy said, in a statement.

All of the natural gas for the plant is coming from Cabot Oil & Gas.
