The $925 million combined-cycle energy plant at the Lordstown Industrial Park is on track to break ground by this summer, according to The Youngstown Business Journal.
The project is finally moving forward after being held up in court for over a year due to a legal dispute over land acquisition between the majority owner of the Lordstown Energy Center and Clean Energy Future LLC, which is overseeing the development of the 940-megawatt power plant. Bill Siderewicz, president of Clean Energy Future LLC, is preparing to finalize financing for the project.
The 925-megawatt plant would produce enough electricity to power 850,000 homes at a cost far less than traditional plants since the Trumbull Energy Center will be fueled by natural gas and steam, and not coal.
