Marathon Petroleum is expected to begin digging trenches for its Cornerstone Pipeline project, according to The Repository. The pipeline will transport natural gas and condensate from processing plants in southeastern Ohio, possibly reducing the number of tanker trucks and trains carrying the flammable liquids.
The Cornerstone Pipeline will originate in Scio, Ohio, run north to East Sparta and then to Marathon’s refinery in Canton. The 16-inch-diameter, 42-mile section of pipeline from Cadiz to East Sparta will ship 180,000 barrels of liquid a day. The 8-inch-diameter, 8-mile section of pipeline from East Sparta to Canton will ship 45,000 barrels of condensate a day
Marathon Pipe Line, owned by Findley-based Marathon Petroleum Corp., is building the pipeline. It should be completed by the end of the year.
