Earlier this month Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania and the Marcellus Shale Coalition announced a formal partnership to educate youth about the energy industry and introduce students to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The new partnership will concentrate on expanding the Junior Achievement Careers in Energy program in local schools via the volunteer and Financial support of Marcellus shale members, according to a news release from both.
JA Careers in Energy has positively affected more then 5,000 students in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and Marcellus shale member companies have given more than $1.1 million in financial support since the program was introduced in 2011, according to the Observer-Reporter.
The companies that are currently working with Junior Achievement in support of the Careers in Energy program include Consol Energy, Energy Corporation of America, EQT Corp., MarkWest Energy Partners LP, Range Resources Corp., Shell, Talisman Energy USA Inc., Williams and XTO Energy.
