Sunoco Pipeline, LLP’s Mariner East 2 pipeline project is moving forward in Pennsylvania, following an agreement between the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and environmental groups, according to the Farm and Dairy.
The DEP, the Clean Air Council, Mountain Watershed Association and the Delaware Riverkeeper Network settled their appeal of 20 permits issued to Sunoco in regards to the project. None of the permits were altered in the process. The agreement was reached due to the DEP’s development of new standards, protocols and best practices designed to protect the environment during the construction and installation of pipelines.
The proposed pipeline will transport natural gas liquids from Ohio and the Pittsburgh area to Sunoco’s Marcus Hook Facility in Delaware County.
