Mountain Valley gets approval to resume construction along most of pipeline route

Mountain Valley Pipeline LLC has received permission from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to resume construction on most of its $5.4-5.7 billion pipeline from West Virginia to Virginia, according to Reuters.
Construction of the Mountain Valley Pipeline was halted a year ago when the FERC imposed a suspension due to litigation over the project’s Biological Opinion from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which allows construction in areas inhabited by endangered and threatened species.
Incidentally, the FWS issued a new Biological Opinion in early September, which cleared the way for the FERC to give the go-ahead nod.
The pipeline is expected to be in service by early 2021.
