Natural gas deficit will be replenished by rising production

Experts aren’t worried about the nation’s natural gas supplies as winter approaches. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette PowerSource reports that compared to last year, and last year’s brutally cold winter, the amount of natural gas in storage is less than it was last fall.

Rising production will make up for the deficit, though. And, with 10 pipeline projects in place, 4.25 Bcf/d of natural gas will be added. To top it all off, this surge in production could keep prices low. As of Oct. 24, 3,480 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of natural gas was in storage.

From Pittsburgh Post-Gazette PowerSource:

“While that figure is a net increase of 87 Bcf from the previous week, it was 294 Bcf less than last year and 310 Bcf below the five-year average of 3,790 Bcf, according to EIA estimates.”
