Last week the Global Carbon Project reported greenhouse gas emissions from natural gas are outpacing and have eclipsed emissions from coal in the United States and Europe, according to E&E News.
In both the U.S. and Europe, natural gas has been central to emission declines, with fossil fuel emissions projected to fall 1.7% this year in the U.S. and Europe.
The increased natural gas emissions and decline in coal emissions are largely credited to the increased use of natural gas in the U.S. and Europe where cheap gas has helped replace coal as an energy generation source.
