Natural gas output set to rise in April led by Appalachian growth

The major drilling regions in the Lower 48 are on track to raise natural gas output by more than 500,000 MMcf/d in April, led by growth in the Appalachian Basin, according to Natural Gas Intelligence.

Total natural gas production from the seven key onshore drilling regions will grow by 594 MMcf/d month/month to reach an estimated 92.326 Bcf/d in April, EIA stated in the latest iteration of its monthly Drilling Productivity Report. Appalachia is projected to record the largest gain for the period at 186 MMcf/d.

Increases in other shale fields are as follows:

  • The Haynesville up 173 MMcf/d
  • Permian up 120 MMcf/d
  • Eagle Ford up 94 MMcf/d
  • Bakken up 22 MMcf/d
  • Niobrara up 3 MMcf/d
