On Wednesday, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection sent its final oil and gas rules to the state’s Environmental Quality Board. The rules deal with permitting, waste handling and other drilling issues.
The Patriot-News reports that the Marcellus Shale Coalition looked through the regulations and determined that they will cost oil and gas producers more money. The group estimated that the oil and gas industry will pay $2 billion annually to comply with the new rules.
According to the newspaper and DEP estimates, unconventional drillers will spend $6 million to $31 million each year.
