New York may have banned fracking, but the Empire State is reaping the benefits of drilling in Pennsylvania.
Marcellus Shale development across Pennsylvania is impacting the power prices in New York state, according to NorthCentral PA. New York is upping its energy intake due to the lower prices. More power plants are transitioning to natural gas to save money and improve environmental impacts.
Besides New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island are also benefitting from Marcellus Shale development. In those states, energy prices are expected to drop while production increases.
