Construction of the NEXUS pipeline was halted in Green after a panel of the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals voted Now.22, 2-1, to stop its progress, according to The Suburbanite.
The NEXUS is expected to run eight miles through the city; however, Green officials fought to have the pipeline moved south using an alternative route. The proposed route has been studied in detail and officials believe it would have fewer environmental impacts.
The planned pipeline route would run 255 miles of 36-inch-diameter pipeline across the state of Ohio and carry 1.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas a day from the Utica and Marcellus shale regions.
