Last week, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources approved 13 new permits for horizontal wells in Ohio’s Utica Shale, according to The Youngstown Business Journal.

The permits were split between Eclipse Resources and Ascent Resources. Eclipse secured seven for wells in Belmont and Monroe counties and Ascent received six for wells in Guernsey County.

There were no new permits issued for wells in Mahoning, Columbiana or Trumbull counties in the northern section of the Utica, according to ODNR.
