ODNR issues eight more permits in Utica

During the week ended Nov. 3, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued eight new permits to oil and gas companies with plans to drill in the Utica Shale, according to The Youngstown Business Journal.

Eclipse Resources and Chesapeake Exploration LLC each received four permits for new horizontal wells, according to the ODNR. Eclipse plans to drill new wells in Guernsey County. Chesapeake plans to drill in Harrison County.

As of Nov. 3, the ODNR reports that it has issued 2,913 horizontal well permits in the Utica Shale. There are currently 2,446 horizontal wells drilled and 2,072 horizontal wells in production in Ohio’s Utica.
