ODNR issues four permits in Ohio’s Utica

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources recently issued four new permits for horizontal wells in Ohio’s Utica shale during the week ending Dec. 22, according to The Youngstown Business Journal.

Ascent Resources Utica LLC received all four permits for wells in Jefferson County, according to the latest data provided by ODNR.

The rig count remained the same in the Utica at 18.

As of Dec. 22, there were 2,953 horizontal wells permitted in the Utica and 2,490 of those wells are drilled. Of that number, 2,116 wells are in production.

    I would like to know more about horizontal drilling:

    1) what is the typical horizontal distance from the pad
    2) how many wells are typically drilled from a single pad
