ODNR issues six permits in Ohio’s Utica

Last week the Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued six permits to operators in Ohio’s Utica shale, according to The Youngstown Business Journal.

Ascent Resources LLC received four permits to drill horizontal wells in Jefferson County. The final two permits were issued to Utica Resources Operating LLC for wells in Guernsey County.

As of Sept. 15, there were 18 rigs operating in the Utica shale and the ODNR had issued 2,890 permits for wells in the shale play. Of those, 2,414 wells have been drilled and 2,022 of those wells are in production.
