Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia issued a combined 28 shale drilling permits from Oct. 4-10, according to Marcellus Drilling News.
During that period, Pennsylvania had the most permitting activity, issuing 22 permits to drill new shale wells. Repsol Oil & Gas USA LLC received nine permits from a well pad in Hamilton Township in Tioga County. Seneca Resources Co LLC received six new permits to drill on the same well pad in Delmar Township also in Tioga County. Eat received five permits to drill on the same well pad in Sewickley Township in Westmoreland County. The remaining two permits were issued to PennEnergy Resources LLC and Range Resources Appalachia LLC.
Ohio issued only two new permits, both to Gulfport Energy for the same well pad in Washington Township in Belmont County.
West Virginia issued four new permits from Oct. 4-10. Southwest Energy received three and Antero Resources received one.
