Several members of the Marcellus Shale Coalition are chipping in to help communities, first responders and medical professionals respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Pennsylvania Business Report.

Here’s what some companies have done to support the communities adjacent to their operations:

  • ExxonMobil is manufacturing isopropyl alcohol — a key ingredient needed for the production of hand sanitizers, alcohol wipes and disinfectant sprays.
  • Range Resources committed to a more than $100,000 community stimulus package, which will include funding for food and basic needs, healthcare, employment resources, education, domestic violence services and senior citizen care.
  • NRG Energy, Inc. has pledged $2 million in charitable contributions for first responders, small businesses, teachers and communities within their Pennsylvania and New Jersey operating areas.
  • Cabot Oil & Gas pledged $50,000 to the Weinberg Food Bank, provided hospitals and first responders with protective suits and safety glasses, and helped rural school districts transition to remote learning by donating laptops and other essential school supplies.
  • Others are donating money to food banks — The EQT Foundation donated $360,000 to community foundations and food banks; Southwestern Energy donated $50,000 to food banks and local pantries in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Texas; Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania helped the Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania serve 1,750 meals to families and individuals impacted by COVID-19.
