Although the injury seems to be slowing as a whole, drilling permits inched higher in the Utica and Marcellus shale regions over the last two months.
Ohio saw an increase of 15 permits in September and October when compared to the prior two months. According to Farm and Dairy, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued 27 oil and gas permits in October and 27 in September.
Belmont County highlighted the increases for Ohio with nine new permits granted in September and 22 more in October.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection issued 95 oil and gas well drilling permits in September and 94 in October with 21 of the 189 total issued to drill an existing well deeper.
Washington County saw the biggest increase with 43 new permits issued over September and October.
