Collectively, 20 oil and gas drilling permits were issued for shale wells in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia during the week ended Nov. 14, according to Marcellus Drilling News.
Ohio and West Virginia saw the most permitting activity with 11 and 7 permits, respectively. Pennsylvania only issued two new permits.
In Ohio EAP Ohio LLC received 9 of the 11 permits with 5 on the same well pad in Carroll County and four on the same well pad in Columbiana County. The remaining two permits were issued to Ascent Resources on the same well pad in Jefferson County.
All seven permits issued in West Virginia went to Ascent Resources across five different well pads in Richie and Wetzel counties.
