Industry experts are anticipating an increase in oil in gas production in Ohio’s Utica Shale due to rising demand driven by global conflicts and domestic usage, according to The Daily Jeff.

Ohio has 12 drilling rigs currently in operation in the Utica Shale region across the southeast portion of the state.

More than 275,000 gas wells have been drilled statewide with 2.6 trillion cubic feet of natural gas production as of 2019, according to the most recent data from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. In Ohio, 55,921 oil wells have produced 27 million barrels of crude oil as reported by ODNR’s most recent data.

Additionally, Ohio is home to four oil refineries, which can produce nearly 600,000 barrels of crude oil daily — enough oil to produce 11.4 millions gallons of gasoline per day.
