SALEM, Ohio — When his office phones started ringing off the hook with first-person stories and questions on taxes and money received from mineral rights or easements, U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson knew he had to do something.
Johnson, R-16, is coordinating two educational forums in the district, but open to other residents as well.
“Mineral Rights: Unraveling Federal Taxation” will be presented in town hall fashion on Wednesday, April 3, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Washington State Community College, Graham Auditorium, 210 Colegate Drive, Marietta.
He will also present the town hall the next night, April 4, also from 6-7:30 p.m., at the two campuses of Kent State University in Columbiana County.
Johnson will be present at the Salem campus, in Room 192 of the Health Sciences Wing, and that program will be connected to the East Liverpool campus via live broadcast, with questions being taken from both audiences.
At all locations, following remarks prepared in tandem with the Internal Revenue Service, Johnson will field questions, joined by an IRS specialist, on issues regarding filing, tax liabilities, etc.
For information on the Marietta session, call 740-376-0868; for the April 4 town hall, call 330-337-6951.
