Forty-four of Range Resources wells have been listed as out of compliance with Pennsylvania’s environmental laws, according to The Patriot-News.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection cited the company Feb. 19. The wells were listed as out of compliance for not being cleaned up within nine months of being drilled. Forty of those wells are located in Washington County and four are located in Allegheny County.

The newspaper reports that the DEP sent letters to all Marcellus and Utica shale drillers to provide status updates on well site restoration last June. The company is working with the DEP to bring the wells into compliance.
