To better serve the agricultural and energy sectors, Penn State University’s Agricultural Law and Resource & Reference Center is changing its name to the Center for Agricultural and Shale Law, Penn State University reports.
In Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale region, the natural gas industry has impacted farmers and agricultural businesses. The Marcellus Shale, which stretches into several surrounding states, is estimated to contain as much as 500 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.
According to Penn State, the mission of the center hasn’t changed: “to conduct and disseminate research on current and emerging legal issues of interest to agricultural and rural communities.”
