Penn Township residents oppose Apex Energy drilling

In Penn Township, Westmoreland County, some residents are fighting Apex Energy Inc.’s plans for additional drilling in the township The company, based in Wexford, Pennsylvania, drilled wells in the township last fall, but residents complained that the drilling had adverse effects on the environment and their health.

The Patriot-News reports that the state Department of Environmental Protection found that Apex hadn’t done anything wrong when it drilled the wells. Residents, however, feel otherwise.
